CREATIVE SPANISH UK

Creative Spanish UK is my latest solo venture, a programme designed to teach children Spanish as a second language through entertaining art, music and science related activities.

An adaptation of the TupperWrite Club (Madrid 2010-2016), which was aimed at adults learning English as a second language, and consisted of itinerant creative writing workshops; Creative Spanish UK ran in Manchester from 2016 and until 2021, when I was invited to join Total People to redesign and relaunch their

eLearning provision.

Since 2000 all my endeavours have required the ability to transform a given media into an outlet for an educational product, content or tool. From online games and television to magazines, the classroom and interactive learning courses and modules; I have worked following one simple premise: learning is fun.

Norka Osorio-Alcocer, the person behind Creative Spanish UK, studied Comparative Literature, Linguistics and Creative Writing at the Central University of Venezuela and Television & Radio Scriptwriting at Salford University. More recently she was awarded a Distinction on completing her Professional Diploma in Digital Learning Design from the DLI and Glasgow Caledonian University.

She has worked as a journalist, an editor, a scriptwriter and as a teacher within a variety of media to produce and deliver educational content that is both entertaining and compliant.

Ideovisual (2009) was her first investigative adaptation project.

Ideovisual is a personal journey around the idea of adapting poetry to fit social media formats. Whether that poetry is freshly made or reclaimed from street signs, the whole operation’s premise is: the survival of meaning within the newest media forms. Madrid 2012, in conversation with Espacio Islandia.
